The next-generation Renault Kwid EV, expected to be introduced as the Renault E-Kwid, has been spotted undergoing testing on the roads of Kathmandu.

While there's no official confirmation about its launch, the vehicle is currently being tested in Nepal, indicating Renault’s interest in exploring the country’s growing affordable EV market.

Based on the globally sold Dacia Spring EV, the E-Kwid is expected to bring a practical and cost-effective electric mobility solution to urban buyers looking for a reliable entry-level EV.

Visually, the E-Kwid shares its design language with the Dacia Spring EV. It features a modern split-headlamp setup, with LED daytime running lights (DRLs) mounted on top and the main headlamps integrated into the front bumper.

The rear showcases wraparound taillights connected by a black plastic insert, giving it a wider and more dynamic appearance. Plastic cladding around the wheel arches and rear bumper adds a rugged, crossover-inspired touch to the compact hatchback.

In terms of powertrain, the Renault E-Kwid is expected to carry forward the Dacia Spring’s specifications. It will likely be powered by a 26.8 kWh battery pack, paired with two electric motor options—a 44 bhp variant and a 64 bhp version. Both setups are expected to deliver a range of around 220 km on a single charge.  Charging capabilities are expected to include a 7 kW AC charger for home use and a 30 kW DC fast charger for quicker top-ups.

Inside, the E-Kwid is expected to come equipped with modern features like a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and power windows on all four doors.  Additional features such as cruise control and vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality—allowing the car to power external devices—could also be offered, setting it apart from competitors in the same segment.

The arrival of the Renault E-Kwid EV could be a significant step for Renault in Nepal, offering an affordable electric alternative to petrol-powered hatchbacks while rivalling models like the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV.
